We already know that those of us in Southeast Asia will be getting the Nintendo Switch 2 at least a month later than the rest of the world. But for those that are getting it on time, such as the US and Canada, you can already register your interest to buy it. But it looks like those who want to do that have to meet some pretty specific requirements to even be eligible to do so.
On the Nintendo US site, the company says that you’ll have to sign into your Nintendo Account to start the process, and an email will be sent to you if you get shortlisted. But for that to happen, the account must have clocked in at least 50 hours of gameplay time, as well as having paid for at least 12 months of Nintendo Switch Online, as of 2 April 2025.

These are some pretty strict requirements for a registration of interest, but this is likely a way of preventing the Nintendo Switch 2 from being scalped. While the more dedicated ones may have set up bot programs to create multiple accounts for the purpose of pre-ordering, the subscription and gameplay time requirement sounds like a great way to ensure only real people can register their interest.
Once one’s eligibility has been confirmed, the company says it will send out the invitation emails – which are only valid for 72 hours – to purchase the Switch 2. Optional accessories can also be pre-ordered this way alongside the primary system.
