Another great day with Malaysia Tourism. We started our day by having breakfast at a traditional Floating Market in Kota Bharu called Pasar Tani Terapung in Pangakalan Datu. There were many food vendors selling traditional Malaysian food from their boats. We got nasi kerabu and lontong. There were also many cultural shows at the market, one of them being the dikir barat, where the performer chant poetic Malay rhymes. We also saw wau bulan kite making, and gasing game.
We also took a river cruise with a beautiful painted boat called kolek to see a nipah farm. Nipah is a type of palm trees, and you can use everything from the tree; from the flowers, fruits, leaves, and even the tree sap! It was interesting to see.
From the floating market, we head to the Twin Dragon Temple (Wat Photikyan) to see the longest dragon gate in South East Asia and a tall standing Buddha. It was a beautiful place to visit.
From visting a temple, to visiting a Mosque. That was what we did. We went to Masjid Ar Rahman to visit a Malay style mosque…it was our first time inside a mosque! And we also visited the Fisherman Village nearby at Kampung Pulau Gajah
Then at night, we went to Min House Camp to have a traditional Malaysian food, and make a traditional Malaysian kuih called onde onde. Steve even grated his own coconut using the Malay traditional coconut grater! We ended the day by watching a wayang kulit (shadow puppet) performance. What a great day we had.
We hope this Kota Bharu travel guide can help you plan your trip, and decide on things to do in Kelantan, things to do in Kota Bharu, and things to do in Malaysia, as well as guiding you towards the BEST Malaysian food in the country.
