PETALING JAYA: The younger brother to Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin, the six-year old autistic boy who was murdered last year, has been placed in the care of Selangor welfare department (JKM).
Zayn’s brother was also taken to a hospital for a check-up, Harian Metro reported.
When contacted, the Selangor JKM director Azmir Kassim confirmed the matter, adding that there was a need for the department to care for the child.
Earlier today, Zayn’s father, Zaim Ikhwan Zahari, and mother, Ismanira Abdul Manaf, were jointly charged in the sessions court here with child neglect.
The duo pleaded not guilty to the charge framed under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001, and read with Section 34 of the Penal Code.
Zayn was reported missing in Damansara Damai on Dec 5 last year. He was found dead the next day.
The post-mortem revealed multiple injuries, including defensive wounds, while the cause of death was believed to be strangulation.
Zayn’s grandparents were also arrested yesterday but were released on bail this afternoon.
