Digital Extremes has confirmed that the upcoming iOS version of its popular free-to-play shooter Warframe will support the new cross-platform save system at launch. This will enable players to carry over their progress from PC or video game consoles on their iPhones and vice versa, provided that they use the same account.
In a YouTube livestream that was broadcasted yesterday, Digital Extremes’ CEO Steve Sinclair and creative director Rebecca Ford also confirmed that the Warframe on iOS is on track for its 20 February 2024 release, which falls on Tuesday next week. Prior to this, the game was offered to a limited number of players on the platform via a closed beta from late December 2022. Sinclair adds that the development team is still ironing out the remaining bugs and thoroughly testing the iOS version ahead of its launch.
According to its App Store page, Warframe will require Apple devices running an A12 Bionic chipset or newer, as well as iOS 14 or iPadOS 14. Like its PC and console counterparts, it will be free-to-play while in-purchases are also available.
Meanwhile, an Android version of Warframe is also in the works, though it will only launch at a much later date. Digital Extremes is currently accepting opt-ins for the game’s upcoming closed beta on the platform, but only for players in select regions. Unfortunately, Malaysia is not in the list, at least not yet.
