PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli said the parties in Sabah have some differences in opinions but are still members of the unity government leadership council.
PETALING JAYA: The unity government leadership council will discuss the coming Sabah state assembly elections, says PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli.
Rafizi said this is because most of the parties set to participate in the elections are partners in the federal unity government, Sinar Harian reported.
“Although the parties in Sabah have some differences in opinions, they are still members of the (unity government leadership) council, including Warisan, Umno, Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) and others.
“So the process of negotiations will proceed as directed and monitored by the central leadership. At the PKR level, my instruction to the machinery (in Sabah) is to strengthen our presence and service for the people.
“As to the composition of the coalition entering the state polls, that would definitely be subject to negotiations and decisions by the federal (unity government) council,” he was quoted as saying.
He was asked about Sabah PKR’s allies for the state elections, which chief minister Hajiji Noor said would be held by October next year at the latest.
Barisan Nasional and Hajiji’s GRS previously said they would work with Pakatan Harapan in the next Sabah polls.
Currently, BN sits in the opposition in the Sabah assembly while GRS and PH are allies in the state government.
