The Karpal Singh Drive is supposedly a seafront public-walk which is situated near the George Town suburbs, in Penang, Malaysia. The name of the area was supposedly made after Karpal Singh, who was a lawyer and politician from George Town. The area consists of many residential and commercial buildings. The paved public-walk is decorated with many art sculptures. The promenade lies along the South Channel of Penang Strait. At 17 April, 2014 the death of Karpal Singh was followed by the renaming of the promenade in his honor by the Chief Mister of Penang.
The Karpal Singh Drive has become a great place to go out in the evening. It also provides common people, the leisure of enjoying the beautiful scenery of Penang Bridge and Penang Harbor. Along with this, the Penang Flotilla and the Ubah Bird are one of the past art exhibitions which were present until the end of 2015. In addition, the Karpal Singh Drive also hosts the McDonald’s and the Starbucks as well for its people. Furthermore, the area also consists of many commercial buildings like “The Maritime” and the “Promenade 28”.
The main attraction of the area is the long and beautiful walkway which is 10 meters in length. The public-walk is also filled with sculptures representing modern art. These sculptures are named the “Celebration of our Blue Sky” and the “Rhythm of Light”. Both of these sculptures were made by Hitori Nakayama, an artist from Japan. The main difference between the sculptures is that the first one has a set of 4 blue pillars while the other one shows musical notes.
