KUALA LUMPUR: Police arrested a male teacher in Hulu Selangor yesterday over the alleged sexual assault of several male students.
Hulu Selangor district police chief Ahmad Faizal Tahrim said the physical education teacher, in his 30s, was arrested in Bukit Beruntung, Selangor, on Thursday, after four reports were lodged against him.
“Preliminary investigations found that the first incident, which occurred a month ago, involved a 12-year-old boy.
“One of the locations of the incident was at a homestay in the Ulu Yam area, when the victim was representing Hulu Selangor district in a football tournament,” Faizal said in a statement today.
He said police have opened four investigation papers against the man, under Section 14 (a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
According to Faizal, further checks found that the man had no prior criminal record.
He said the suspect has been remanded for six days, until July 31.
