Perak menteri besar Saarani Mohamad led a state government delegation on a working visit to South Korea and Japan last week.
IPOH: The Perak state government is expected to establish cooperation with leading South Korean company Star Group Industries (SGI) for the production of downstream products of rare earth elements.
Perak menteri besar Saarani Mohamad said officials of the company will visit the state next month and further details regarding the collaboration will be discussed.
The visit by the South Koreans reciprocates a visit by Saarani and a state government delegation to South Korea and Japan last week.
Saarani said the proposed collaboration with SGI have the potential to replace imported raw materials for the automotive industry, which needs permanent magnets for motors, integrated electric brakes and power steering and various other high-tech components.
