PETALING JAYA: Pakistani officials foiled an attempt to smuggle 700kg of methamphetamine to Malaysia yesterday.
Pakistani newspaper Dawn reported that the country’s Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) conducted a raid on a shipping container bound for Malaysia at the South Asia Pakistan Terminal in Karachi.
An ANF spokesman said the 700kg of methamphetamine was discovered during a search of 854 bags of calcium carbonate. The drugs were concealed after they were mixed with calcium carbonate in 28 bags.
The container was booked for Kuala Lumpur by a private Karachi-based company.
A Karachi resident was arrested at the scene.
