PETALING JAYA: Police said today they did not receive any missing person’s report on a woman who was reportedly killed three years ago and her body stored in a freezer.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Rusdi Isa said the suspect, 53, who is also the victim’s son, will be remanded for seven days until Nov 19.
“The suspect turned himself in when he called the police to surrender,” Rusdi said in a statement.
Earlier reports said he had done so after his savings were depleted and he had become chronically ill.
Rusdi said police are investigating the motive for the killing and waiting for the post-mortem results to determine the time of death.
He also said they are still waiting for the suspect’s mental health report from the hospital.
Reports had said the man was suspected to have beaten his mother, in her 80s, at their home in Taman OUG, Kuala Lumpur, in March 2021, and wrapped her body in towels and plastic bags before storing it in the freezer.
Police went to the house and discovered the body at about 8.50am yesterday after he lodged the police report.
