PETALING JAYA: Investments from Malaysian businesses are expected to create 30,000 jobs in the UK, says British prime minister Keir Starmer.
Starmer, who became the UK’s prime minister in July last year, said growing the country’s economy was a vital part of his government’s Plan for Change framework.
“Today, I met with the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Anwar Ibrahim, to discuss new investment from Malaysian businesses into the UK which will create 30,000 jobs and build new homes,” he said in a brief post on X.
Anwar had met Starmer at 10, Downing Street in London, the UK prime minister’s office.
Anwar is in the UK for a five-day working visit, his first trip there since being appointed as prime minister in November 2022.
