PETALING JAYA: A 32-year-old man is expected to be charged at the Sungai Besar magistrates’ court tomorrow with two counts of kidnapping.

Selangor police chief Hussein Omar Khan said the man, who works as a pisang goreng seller, would be charged at 9am tomorrow.

He said the case was in connection with a report filed last Friday following the disappearance of an eight-year-old girl in Taman Ikan Emas in Jeram, Selangor.

“The child, along with another child, was sent by the suspect to Taman Kelisa in Jeram on the same day,” he said in a statement.

The man was arrested last Sunday at Jalan Pawang Jalil in Jeram.

“Investigation papers were completed, and referred to the Selangor deputy public prosecutor’s office today. Instructions have been given to charge the suspect with two counts of kidnapping under Section 363 of the Penal Code,” said Hussein.

Section 363 of the Penal Code carries a punishment of up to seven years’ imprisonment and a fine upon conviction.

It was earlier reported that on July 19, two girls aged six and eight were kidnapped by a man at Taman Ikan Emas. They were later found near their house in Taman Kelisa at around 7.45pm.
