PETALING JAYA: First round matches in two courts at the Malaysia Open badminton tournament had to be suspended after leaks in the roof of the Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil.
Berita Harian reported that the leaks resulted in water seeping through the roof and affecting Court 2 and Court 3, with organisers using cloth to wipe the courts dry.
Among the disrupted matches was the women’s doubles game between Malaysia’s Go Pei Lee-Teoh Mei Xing and China’s Jia Yi Fan-Zhang Shu Xian.
The men’s singles match between Canada’s Brian Yang and India’s HS Prannoy was also halted.
Organisers are currently working to resolve the issue, with the matches delayed for more than 30 minutes at the time of writing.
The organisers have yet to issue an official statement.
