KTM’s KVDT2 project progressing, work on KL Sentral – Port Klang stretch next – announcement on Jan 15

KTM says that it will make an announcement on January 15 regarding the Klang Valley Electrified Double Track Phase 2 (KVDT2), specifically the upgrading of infrastructure and double track system from KL Sentral to Port Klang.

The rail operator says kesulitan hari ini demi keselesaan masa depan, which translates to today’s inconvenience is for future convenience. This likely means closed platforms, disruption to current schedules and longer waiting times for the affected KTM Komuter stations.

In April 2024, Phase 2 of the rail rehabilitation project started after KVDT1 between Rawang and KL Sentral was completed. KVDT2 kicked off with the stretch between Simpang Port Klang and Port Klang, affecting the Batu Caves – Pulau Sebang – Batu Caves line, and the Tanjung Malim – Pelabuhan Klang – Tanjung Malim line.

That coincided with folks from Kuang, Rawang, Serendah and further north ‘getting their KTM Komuter back’ after years of ‘pain’, making the train a viable way to commute to KL and back. So, those further south of the line, now it’s your turn to bersusah-susah dahulu. Announcement next week.
