JPJ Issues 163 Vehicle Document Replacements For Fire Victims

To support victims of the Putra Heights gas pipeline explosion, many government bodies and private agencies have offered assistance, including the Road Transport Department (JPJ). As announced on Facebook, the department has issued 163 replacement vehicle documents to the victims free of charge. These include 114 Vehicle Ownership Certificates (VOC), 28 Competent Driving Licences (CDL), 17 Motor Vehicle Licences (LKM), and four Goods Driving Licences.

According to its Director-General, Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli, the documents were issued via the JPJ mobile counter set up at the relief centres (PPS) at Putra Heights Mosque from 3 to 6 April. In addition to the document replacements, JPJ also provided advice on vehicle insurance to 58 victims and received 19 applications for CDL renewals.

The unfortunate incident, which occurred last week, shattered the peace and stability of many residents in the area as the fire reached temperatures of up to 1,000 degrees Celsius. As a result, many lost their homes and vehicles.

Since then, automotive companies such as Chery and Proton have also stepped forward to offer assistance. The former has loaned 50 of their vehicles to the victims, while the latter allocated RM250,000 in aid and set up free vehicle inspection services at six of their service centres in the surrounding area. Meanwhile, banks and insurance companies have also come forward to provide support.
