If you’re a well-known social media personality like Ameera Khan, you’ll find yourself being under the netizens’ gaze a lot – and that can be stressful. It can be particularly stressful when netizens’ observations lead to some ridiculous accusations.
Recently, several netizens noted that Ameera had a barely visible butterfly mark on her left hand. The mark can be seen in some of the 24-year-old’s recent photos on Instagram. While some did initially consider the mark to be a henna artwork, the colour and longevity caused many to suggest that Ameera had gotten a tattoo. This then caused some backlash towards the public figure.

For those unaware, getting a permanent tattoo is forbidden in Islam. Even some local celebrities who have gotten tattoos before converting to the religion have been criticised for not removing them. After receiving tons of comments about her allegedly getting a tattoo, Ameera finally clarified the mark and explained what it was. According to the public figure, the mark was a scar left from a henna artwork that she got while in Madinah.
Unfortunately, Ameera suffered an allergic reaction to the henna and her skin started to peel and fall out where the artwork was. She also said that she even bled because of the skin reaction. While her skin has healed, what’s left on her hand is the butterfly-shaped scar that was caused by all the peeling. Ameera also said that the mark would eventually go away but the process would take time. In the meantime, she urges the public to stop making assumptions about her scar.

It’s unfortunate that some people’s misunderstanding of something could lead to an awful accusation – but it’s good that Ameera calmly explained the truth before things got out of hand.
