PETALING JAYA: The CEO of Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISBH), Nasiruddin Ali, has filed a habeas corpus application following his detention under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (Sosma).
Nasiruddin, who was recently charged with being a member of an organised criminal group, filed the application at the Johor Bahru High Court, along with his wife, Azura Yusof, and Suhaimi Sani, Berita Harian reported.
Suhaimi is expected to be charged under Sosma at the Kota Tinggi sessions court later today.
The trio named the home minister, the inspector-general of police, the public prosecutor, the directors of the Selangor and Kuala Lumpur prisons department as well as the government as respondents.
The application, which seeks a writ to free them from “unlawful arrest and detention” was filed by lawyers Rosli Kamaruddin, Najib Zakaria, Boestamam Ahmad and Dorina Abdullah.
Judge Abu Bakar Katar fixed Dec 4 to hear the application.
Rosli later told reporters a similar application will be filed in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur soon.
He said they had filed the one in Johor Bahru first as the investigation is linked to cases in the state, with some of the business premises under investigation also located in Johor.
Nasiruddin and Azura were detained under Sosma earlier this month.
