While GDDR7 has been around since last year, NVIDIA is currently the only GPU brand that has adopted the standard, while AMD and Intel are still sticking with the previous generation GDDR6. For the blue chipmaker, that may change with future Arc GPU generations.
According to a job listing by Intel, which was discovered by Haze and posted on X, the chipmaker is currently looking for experts to work in the field of “Memory tuning and Qualification”, particularly for discrete graphics. The job description indicates that Intel is evaluating faster memory standard, with GDDR7 being identified.

There is no further information beyond the job listing but if this job listing is for future products, the possibility that future Intel Arc GPUs will ship out with GDDR7 memory is highly likely. And while the chipmaker hasn’t yet to officially confirm anything, we could be looking at the third generation Celestial lineup as a potential early candidate, or the fourth generation Druid as a later entry.
That said, if the transition into GDDR7 occurs with Celestial, it feels a little odd, given that the memory standard is technically designed for higher-than-average performance. For that matter, it could also be a generational upgrade; GDDR6 is undoubtedly getting a little long in the tooth, meaning a transition towards the faster memory standard is understandable, if not expected.
