Canva has announced Canva Sheets, a spreadsheet software with AI capabilities. The company, which is known for its design and image editing tools, claims that Canva Sheets is a visual-first software that brings AI-powered efficiency, instant data visualization, and dynamic design to spreadsheets.
The Canva Sheets page currently showcases the upcoming software’s features, which include bright and colourful visuals, sheets templates, as well as the charts and formulas one would usually expect from a spreadsheet software. There is also the Bulk Create feature, which allows the user to create multiple copies of a design and tailor them to specific locations using a built-in AI-powered translator.
Canva’s pivot to productivity tools is an interesting choice for sure, as the spreadsheet software will be competing with the likes of Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets. It would have to offer some incredible features for users to even consider it as a viable alternative. Based on its aesthetics-focused concept, users who seek better functionality aren’t going to be impressed.
Still, it may be too early to judge a book by its cover as the software is not yet available. According to Canva, it will be rolled out in phases over the coming months. With the company promising the software’s suitability for a variety of applications, it’s possible Canva Sheets could find its niche.
