PETALING JAYA: The auction of assets belonging to cosmetic mogul Hasmiza Othman, initially scheduled for tomorrow, has been postponed to January next year.
The postponement was confirmed by Hasmiza’s lawyer, Adnan Seman.
The claimant’s counsel, Samir Zainal, said the auction will now be held on Jan 8.
“It was postponed due to an application from Vida Beauty Sdn Bhd, claiming the property belongs to the company,” Samir said, according to Harian Metro.
Samir also said he would consult his client on whether to appeal the court’s decision.
Last month, it was reported that every item in a house belonging to Hasmiza had been seized by the Kuala Lumpur High Court over her failure to pay more than RM1.06 million to a contractor who renovated one of her factories.
The court seized two Toyota Vellfires, a Toyota Grand Hiace and a BMW X7. However, it was reported they could not enter Hasmiza’s bedroom, which was found locked.
On Oct 29 last year, the High Court reportedly ordered Hasmiza, better known as Vida, to pay up the amount owed to Ah Design Communication Sdn Bhd.
She had owed the company RM1.06 million since 2018 following renovations carried out at a Shah Alam factory to turn it into a studio.
The court had granted the company’s application for a writ of seizure and sale after she failed to settle the debt.
The seizure was carried out at the house in Meru, Ipoh, Perak, on Nov 25 and took about four hours.
