PETALING JAYA: Men’s doubles shuttlers Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani capped a fine day for Malaysia at the India Open when they became the fifth national pair to book a berth in the semi-finals.
The pair, ranked No 2 in the world, did it in style by disposing of Taiwanese twins Lee Fang Chih-Lee Fang Jen in straight games of 21-11, 21-17 in a match lasting 33 minutes.
It was a good day for Malaysia as all its quarter-finalists were victorious.
The other pairs in the semi-finals are mixed doubles pairs Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Jemie Lai and Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei, women’s doubles pair Pearly Tan-M Thinaah and men’s doubles duo Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik.
This is the fourth time that Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin have beaten the Taiwanese pair in five encounters.
In the semi-final tomorrow, Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin will meet the winners of the match between South Korea’s Jin Yong-Kang Min Hyuk and home pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty.
