Federal territories minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa has maintained that she did not know about the royal addendum.

PETALING JAYA: Federal territories minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa has denied hiding anything involving the royal addendum allowing former prime minister Najib Razak to serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest.

Zaliha, a member of the Federal Territories Pardons Board (FTPB), maintained that she did not know about the addendum, Harian Metro reported.

“I want to explain that I myself, like the other ministers, did not see the document mentioned as the addendum.

“I did not hide anything. I believe that answers all questions related to the matter and I do not want to comment on it further,” she was quoted as saying.

Najib obtained leave on Monday to begin judicial review proceedings to compel the government to place him under house arrest in accordance with Al-Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah’s decree.

In a letter submitted to the court by Najib’s lawyer Shafee Abdullah, the comptroller of the Pahang royal household confirmed the existence of the addendum order in which the decree was set out.

The revelation resulted in several quarters accusing the government of hiding the addendum order and calling for the party responsible to be brought to justice.

Yesterday, former Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin said Zaliha and law and institutional reform minister Azalina Othman Said should speak up on the royal addendum as they were “directly responsible”.

He cited Zaliha’s position in the FTPB and Azalina’s “relationship with the attorney-general” (AG) as the law minister.

Najib’s lawyer Shafee Abdullah had told the Court of Appeal that the addendum was sent by the palace on Jan 29, 2024 to then AG Ahmad Terrirudin Salleh.

Terriruddin and his successor, Dusuki Mokhtar, declined to comment on the matter when approached by reporters at an event on Wednesday.
