Beginning Oct 9, the Health Ministry will only publish today’s breakdown of new cases by states after midnight on its CovidNow portal.

The breakdown by states for yesterday (Oct 17), where 6,145 new cases were reported, is as follow:

Selangor (1,036)
Johor (732)
Sarawak (730)
Kelantan (572)
Sabah (504)
Perak (461)
Penang (438)

Pahang (305)
Negeri Sembilan (214)
Malacca (206)
Kuala Lumpur (182)
Perlis (51)
Putrajaya (22)

As of yesterday, the R-naught for Malaysia was 0.88. A R-naught of less than 1.00 is desirable because it suggests the spread of Covid-19 is decelerating.

The only regions where the R-naught is above 1.00 are Negeri Sembilan and Putrajaya.
