4 KL policemen arrested over jewellery theft

PETALING JAYA: Four policemen have been arrested to assist in a probe into the theft of jewellery in Kuala Lumpur.

City police chief Rusdi Isa said the four cops were nabbed in Setapak after a man lodged a report on the incident recently. Following the arrests, police seized a yellowish piece of metal weighing 11.52g and a receipt.

In a statement, he said the suspects are aged between 28 and 35 and rank from constable to corporal. They are under remand until tomorrow.

The case is being investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code for theft, which is punishable by a jail term of up to seven years, or a fine, or both, upon conviction.
