KUALA LUMPUR: A public servant was among 13 people arrested after police uncovered illegal land transfer activities in Selangor.
Bukit Aman CCID director Ramli Yoosuf said the group was believed to have erased key land transfer records with the involvement of staff from a Selangor district office.
He said police opened a probe into the matter earlier this month following a report by an assistant district officer who suspected irregularities in several land transfer transactions.
He said the complainant reported that some land transfer transactions appeared suspicious and had been carried out illegally.
“The complainant also reported the disappearance of several documents, including land transfer forms, from the vault,” Ramli said during a press conference at the Bukit Aman CCID headquarters here.
He said the seven men and six women arrested are between 26 and 59 years of age.
The case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating.
